Student Induction Program Committee

Purpose:

To organize Student Induction Programme (SIP) in order to acclimatize newly admitted students to the college environment, facilitating them to be able to build rapport with fellow students and faculty members, to inculcate in them the ethics and vision of the institution to serve a larger purpose in society.

Scope:

SIP offers a platform to all the newly admitted students to get familiarized with the campus and the culture of the college. It includes an introduction to the academic programmes, the co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, the college life and human values that will prepare the students to meet the demands of their course and help in their holistic and integrated learning and development. Through the induction program, every student will be facilitated to understand the vision and mission of L. M. College of Pharmacy.

Responsibility:

Familiarization of new students with new environment
Engages with the new students as soon as they come into the college
Inculcate in them the vision, mission, culture and values of the institution
Help them network with other students and faculty members
Facilitate the new students to learn about the institutional policies and processes
Allot them their mentors for representing issues
Analyze their learning capabilities at the point of entry in the college in order to compare their future progress.
Inculcate institutional best practices in them
Arrange lectures of eminent people to introduce them to pharmacy and its scope
Make them aware of college infrastructure

Placement cell

Purpose:

Exploring capability of the students
Facilitating employment
Offer growth opportunities

Scope:

To identify and approach companies for placement.
To conduct placement of students for industry, hospital and medical store and any other suitable organizations.

Collect resume of the interested students and submitting it to placement officer

Industrial visits and internship committee

Purpose:

Provide awareness regarding different section of Industries, hospitals and Clinical research organisation
Learning and updating industrial knowledge and interacting with industry personnel.
Developing beneficial relationship with industry

Scope:

To identify and approach companies for industrial visit and trainings
To provide industrial (small scale or large scale units) and hospital trainings
To conduct industrial visit, hospital visit and clinical research organisation visit

Purpose:

To provide an opportunity to the students with Pre-GPAT examinations and thereby preparing them for national level GPAT examination.

Scope:

Committee looks after pre-GPAT examination at L.M. College of Pharmacy, Ahmedabad.

Definitions:

National Testing Agency (NTA):

National Testing Agency (NTA) has been established as a premier, specialist, autonomous and self-sustained testing organization to conduct entrance examinations for admission/fellowship in higher educational institutions. To assess competence of candidates for admissions and recruitment has always been a challenge in terms of matching with research based international standards, efficiency, transparency and error free delivery.

Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT)

Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) is a national level entrance examination for entry into M.Pharm programs. Till 2018, it was conducted by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) every year as per the directions of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. The Test will now be conducted by the NTA.

Pre-GPAT:

Pre-GPAT is/are examination (s) which mimics the GPAT examination.

Extracurricular activities

Purpose:

Extra-curricular activities (ECA) are activities that take place outside regular class teaching and yet are related to student learning. As such, they fall within the scope of the college curriculum. ECA takes care of the students’ different developmental needs such as their sense of moral values and attitudes, skills and creativity.

Scope:

Through their participation in ECA, students can learn to communicate, to co-operate with other people and in addition to enrich their life experience. If students are given the opportunities to organize ECA, they will gain first-hand experience of programme planning and leadership, thus enabling them to discover and develop their potential.

Responsibility:

ECA coordinator is responsible for organizing the ECA of the college, helping to arrange and to coordinate inter-class activities. ECA coordinator participates in the setting up of goals, directions and policies for the implementation of ECA. The ECA coordinator also guides students towards proper concepts and encourages them to participate in the activities. ECA committee should organize

Accountability:

The ECA co-ordinator is responsible for recruiting the necessary personnel for the implementation of ECA. ECA Coordinator should understand the strengths, interests and abilities of his/her fellow colleagues with a view to suggesting to the college principal the distribution of work for ECA. He/she should also pay attention to the performance of the teachers-in-charge with a view to providing them with assistance and encouragement.

LMCP NSS Unit:

Extracurricular activities committee handles NSS activities at our college.

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is an Indian government-sponsored public service program conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India. Popularly known as NSS, the scheme was launched in Gandhiji’s Centenary year in 1969. It aimed at developing student’s personality through community service; NSS is a voluntary association of young people in Colleges, Universities and at +2 level working for a campus-community (esp. Villages) linkage.

It is said that social service is done to serve the people but the main aim behind it is to gain the inner peace and to fulfill one’s spiritual satisfaction. LMCP NSS with 50 volunteers affiliated in Gujarat Technological University started with the aim of fulfilling the needs of the society with the help of social service and health care activitites. LMCP NSS started with an aim to develop leadership and managerial skills among the Pharmacy students. In this, they learn the importance of team work and showcase their inner creativity by organizing various social events. Motto of NSS – Not Me But You. The motto itself gives the idea about its work and aim.

Its activities around the whole year which includes tree plantation, bone marrow drive, blood donation camp, thalassemia drive, eye checkup camp, Swachhta Abhiyan, Joy of Giving: Donation of unused items, Water pots and nests for birds in summer, Shramdaan Camp- Swacch Bharat Abhiyan, Celebrating International Yoga Day, Organising debates, elocution, poetry competition, extempore and related student skill development activities, Celebration of National festivals with themes to invoke and boost patriotism in youth, Women Empowerment related seminars and on field work

The main objectives of National Service Scheme (NSS) are:

utilize their knowledge in finding practical solutions to individual and community problems

Motto:

The Motto of NSS “Not Me But You”, reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for self-less service. NSS helps the students’ development & appreciation to other person’s point of view and also show consideration towards other living beings. The philosophy of the NSS is a good doctrine in this motto, which underlines on the belief that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of the society as a whole and therefore, the NSS volunteers shall strive for the well-being of the society.

Sports committee:

This Committee comes under extracurricular activities committee.

Purpose:

To promote and improve physical fitness in students and to motivate them to participate at district, state and national level in various sports competitions. To build students interpersonal skills through indoor and outdoor sports activities/competitions.

Scope:

Sports as a career, gives lots of fame and money. Career in any sports field depending on what sportstaken up depend upon expertise. Various sports fields are Cricket, Badminton, Volleyball, Football, Basketball, Boxing, Gymnastics, Hockey, Table Tennis, Wrestling, Cycling, etc.

Responsibility:

Ensure the safe opening and closure of the centre.
Respond to any emergencies in accordance to our procedures.
Address any behaviour or sports related issues immediately.
Ensure the smooth operation of the sports centre.
Physical Director / Sport Incharge is responsible and is the only one authorised for the sports centre.
Purchase of sports equipment’s and kits.
Arrange annual sport week in college for students and faculty.
Any damage or deficiency is to beplease report to the Sports Centre Incharge / Physical Director

Red Ribbon Club

This Committee comes under extracurricular activities committee.

Purpose:

Educate youth with correct, concise and adequate information and heighten their level of awareness about HIV/AIDS and other health-related issues, thus eliminating the myths and misconceptions.

Scope:

Red Ribbon is a globally recognized symbol for HIV/AIDS awareness. Establishment of Red Ribbon Club is an important initiative undertaken by the Government of India not only to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS and associated myths among the youth, but also to enhance social service and human values in them.

Responsibility:

To create among the youth a cadre of peer educators for spreading awareness about HIV-AIDS and its prevention in the community.
To inculcate the human values in the students by motivating them for blood donation.
To arrange health check up camps, like thalassemia testing and creating awareness therby.
Enable youth to identify and understand situations of exploitation and abuse.
Sensitize the youth regarding care and support needs of people affected with HIV AIDS and instill in them the spirit to reduce the stigma and discrimination against them.

Institute Discipline Maintenance Committee

Purpose:

To lay down SOP on conduct of enquiries in report of instances of indiscipline / insubordination and unwanted activities as well as relevant disciplinary proceedings post such enquiries.

Scope:

Project, portray and present a true reflection of an academic institution wherein academic activities are conducted by providing conducive and pleasant teaching and learning environments free of all disturbances and distractions and to inculcate and improve the personality of the students to meet the future challenges in a disciplined, organized and civilized manner.

Responsibility:

To derive a comprehensive policy for the campus to create civilized, safe and conducive environments for the students to bring professionalism among them by inculcating noble practices.
To maintain and enforce strict discipline within the college campus.
To maintain and enforce strict punctuality in all spheres i.e. attendance, assignments, events.
To ensure that as per UGC directions for prohibition of Ragging in any form in the college are observed strictly. Any student found guilty in ragging will be immediately expelled from the college followed by criminal procedures as per the law.
All students must put on the Identity Card as long as he/she is in the College campus. It is used for permitting the student to participate in various activities and programs of the college. I-card must be produced by the student whenever demanded by a member of the teaching or non-teaching staff of the college. Every student must bring his/her Identity Card to the college every day.
To enforce total prohibition of cell phone usage in the academic area of the college this includes Lecture Halls, Laboratories and Library. Dodgers will be penalized and their instrument will be confiscated.
To monitor the movement of the students in the college and prevent students loitering around in the corridors during the college working hours.
To ensure that students do not abstain from classes, practicals, examinations without prior permission of the concern teacher and Head of the Department.
In case of any misbehavior or violation of the college rules, the ID cards of the students will be kept with the Disciplinary Committee Members till the enquiry is over.
To see that students are not indulging in no activity inside or outside the college that meddle with the discipline of the college or taint the reputation of the College.
To ensure that students are expected to see the college Notice Board every day and update herself / himself with the latest happenings.
Student should first meet their class mentor for any query regarding studies or related problems.
To ensure that students maintain complete silence in the library.
To see that proper discipline is maintained by students in the college canteen and waiting room during the college working hours.
Students mandatorily follow the safety norms of working in the Laboratories.
If any damage is caused to the college property by any student / group of students, the cost of the same will be recovered with a fine from the said student / group of this will be followed by disciplinary action.
Use of foul language or any act which hurts the other students/staff physically/mentally is strictly prohibited. If not followed disciplinary actions to the level of expulsion may be taken.
In case of any misconduct by the student, she/he will be asked to represent in front of discipline committee. The decision of the committee will be considered final and all will have to abide to it.

To have optimistic approach in imparting discipline among students/ Faculty. Framing rules and regulations to maintain discipline in the college premises.

Definitions:

Education should bring in moral ethical values of well being to learners and every educator and educating institutions should strive hard to bring in the core human values in the process of learning and focus on quality approach to ensure better living with better educated countrymen. Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment that ensures strict rules and regulations for students on behalf of discipline committee.
